The wind in Texas is legendary, and I'm not a fan.

'The Wind' is a fictional novel published in 1925 about Letty Mason, who, in the 1890s, migrated to her cousin's farm in West Texas where she is slowly and inexorably driven mad by loneliness, drought and the incessant wind.

Controversial when it was published anonymously, Texans with influence denounced the book as the hateful writings of a "Yankee," and had the book removed from libraries. It was thought to be a novel that would damage migration to the West, Texas in particular. Dorothy Scarborough, a native Texan and noted cultural historian, who had spent several of her childhood years in Sweetwater, was revealed to be the author.


It has been adapted twice in film, in neither case maintaining the integrity of the story.

I still have single-pane windows so they don't insulate well in the winter. I hate to do restrict the light and view from the kitchen window so I drape a fleece blanket between the window and drapes at night. Makes a big difference.

Every year since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute has declared a particular color "Color of the Year". The Pantone Color Matching System is a standardized color reproduction system, allowing different manufacturers in different locations to refer to the Pantone system to make sure colors match without direct contact with one another. It affects many aspects of design worldwide, digital and analog.
