Freshly cleaned furniture sitting in the sun

I scour through Facebook Marketplace for deals on furnishings and got these lovelies. They had problems; the $40 yellow chair was a little dirty and had been heavily Febrezed. The FREE dining chairs were dirty, covered with cat hair and snagged all over by cat claws. The upside was they were exactly the style I wanted. 

I cleaned them with a borrowed carpet shampooer with an upholstery attachment. I was surprised how well it worked. A couple of hours in the sun disinfected and removed most of the perfume. Depending on how well trimming the snags goes, I may or may not cover the dining chairs. This style is so simple that slipcovers look very good and they're inexpensive.

I still have single-pane windows so they don't insulate well in the winter. I hate to do restrict the light and view from the kitchen window so I drape a fleece blanket between the window and drapes at night. Makes a big difference.

Every year since 2000, the Pantone Color Institute has declared a particular color "Color of the Year". The Pantone Color Matching System is a standardized color reproduction system, allowing different manufacturers in different locations to refer to the Pantone system to make sure colors match without direct contact with one another. It affects many aspects of design worldwide, digital and analog.
